About the programme

Digital skills are no longer optional. They are needed for school, for accessing information and services, for continuing one’s studies and, later, for finding a job.

But the fact that a child uses a phone or accesses social media does not mean they know how to use technology safely and usefully. Without guidance, many children risk falling behind and being unable to use digital tools to learn and to reach new opportunities.

The programme starts from the basics: creating and managing an account, choosing a secure password, recognising fraud attempts, searching responsibly for information and writing an email.

Gradually, children and teenagers learn to use tools that are useful for school and their future: Microsoft Office applications, design platforms such as Canva, creating and updating a CV and, for those interested, an introduction to coding.

How it works

• Age-adapted modules — the content is organised according to the participants’ age and level: basics for children aged 8–11, applied skills for those aged 12–15, and skills useful for continuing studies and preparing for work for teenagers aged 16–18.
• Small-group sessions — the workshops run in groups of 4–6 children, so that each participant receives support and explanations adapted to their own pace.
• Learning through practical exercises — each session includes concrete exercises and projects, through which children can immediately apply what they have learned.
• Volunteers experienced in technology — the programme is supported by professionals from IT and digital fields, who offer children practical examples, patience and steady guidance.

Who it serves

The programme is for children and teenagers from vulnerable backgrounds who have limited access to equipment, educational resources or adults who can help them use technology safely and usefully.

We want them not to remain merely consumers of content, but to be able to use digital tools to learn, create, communicate and open up new opportunities.

How you can get involved

• As a volunteer — if you work in IT or a digital field and can support one or two sessions a month, you can join the programme. No trainer experience is required, only patience, availability and the willingness to explain things in a way children understand. Sign up as a volunteer.
