Valori de Bine Association

For children who do not have, around them, the adults to guide them.

We work with children from vulnerable backgrounds — orphans, raised by grandparents, or in family placement. We give them what, without us, they would not have: weekly tutoring, mentors who show up, creative workshops, and meetings with professionals who reveal paths they did not see at school.

Who we are

Children and volunteers from the Valori de Bine community

"Every child deserves normality, education, support and simple joys — the things that give life meaning, safety and beauty."

We are an association dedicated to children from vulnerable backgrounds — many orphans, raised by grandparents or in family placement. We work through five directions that complement each other — education, health, vocation, joys and community — to build, around each child, a coherent context for growth, not isolated interventions.

In practice, that means a child helped with homework, a teenager talking to a mentor about their future, a medical check-up done in time, a creative workshop where a child finds the courage to say "I did it", or a meeting with a professional who helps them discover that there are several possible paths in life.

Our mission

A moment from Valori de Bine’s work

For children from vulnerable backgrounds, we build the contexts of growth they would not otherwise have: an adult who listens, a tutoring session, a meeting with a professional who shows them a new path. We work long-term, not in campaigns.

"Before a child can launch their first paper plane, they need someone to sit beside them and show them how to fold it."

Where children start, and what we build

Many of the children we work with start from gaps other children never encounter. Our role is to turn these gaps, step by step, into support, confidence and the natural experiences of childhood.

Where children start

  • Separation from family or the loss of a parent
  • Limited access to educational support and learning resources
  • Low confidence in their own abilities
  • A lack of positive role models and trusted adults
  • Few of childhood's natural experiences: birthdays, outings, camps

What we build together

  • Steady guidance and support from people who stay close
  • Safe relationships with committed adults and volunteers
  • Mentoring, career orientation and positive role models
  • Workshops that grow confidence, skills and curiosity
  • Childhood's natural moments: birthdays, outings, toys and camps

The context we work in

Our values

Dignity, not pity

The children we work with are not "cases". They are people with names, stories, potential — and it shows in everything we do.

Presence, not visibility

We communicate publicly less than we do. A mentor who shows up consistently, month after month, means more for a child than many brief moments.

Transparency with partners

Six-monthly reports with concrete numbers, detailed costs, questions we answer directly.

The patience of real change

A child does not "transform" in a summer camp. We build over years — "no" to attractive but superficial initiatives, "yes" to slow but effective things.

Our story

From the first tutoring sessions, alongside the children

Our story began in 2020, during the pandemic, with a few hours of online tutoring for children who had fallen behind at school. Working alongside them consistently, we understood that their needs go beyond homework: they need the constancy of an adult who believes in them and guides them, and the contexts in which they can discover what is possible. We formally became an association in 2025, and we grow only as much as we can deliver consistent quality for each child.

What comes next

We grow carefully, step by step — only as much as we can sustain with steady quality for every child. Here is our plan, together with our volunteers and partners:

  1. 01

    Now

    In progress

    Strengthen what we have

    • Steady educational support for the children already with us
    • Existing programmes, reinforced
  2. 02

    Over the next 2 years

    Planned

    Grow with care

    • More children supported
    • Partnerships that sustain monthly activities
    • Learning materials and experiences
  3. 03

    Long term

    Vision

    A stable model

    • Education, mentoring and guidance within reach for more children
    • Support that lasts year after year

Our vision

A Romania in which a child born into a vulnerable background has the same real options as one born into a family with resources — not because they were "rescued", but because they grew up with the adults who showed them what they could choose.

Stories that explain why we do this

I want to become a pastry chef, but I don’t know if there will be money for school… but when I come to the workshops, something lights up in me and I remember that maybe there is a chance.
Roxana from the Career Tomorrow programme
I really like French classes. I would love to have a job and be able to speak French with confidence.
Florin, 16 raised in a family-type home
I’m preparing for the national exams. The support I receive helps me learn, have more confidence in myself and understand better what I want to do next.
Cristina, 14 part of a child-protection programme
For the first time in my life, I had a birthday party. I was so happy that I could spend it with my friends here.
Maria, 7 supported through a child-protection programme

What we do, concretely

Our programmes

Programmes that work together, not in isolation. We build a coherent context, not one-off interventions.

Who we work with

We don't work alone. Every programme comes to life alongside partners and people who bring access, resources and time.

SOS Satele Copiilor România

Main partner for access to children's communities. The "Career Tomorrow" programme runs explicitly in collaboration with SOS.

Editura Niculescu

Partner for access to books and educational resources.

Ambassadors and volunteers

Professionals who give the cause a voice, and volunteers alongside the children at homework and workshops. Each opens a door a child wouldn't have found on their own.

of resources, straight to children

Where resources go

Almost everything we receive goes straight to children.

We have no paid staff and no salary or administrative costs tied to a team. Our trainers, mentors and volunteers give their time, knowledge and personal resources — from laptops, phones and work tools to materials, supplies and transport for workshops. This is how we keep administrative costs to a minimum: in 2025, 99% of financial resources went straight to children — for learning, workshops, materials and simple but meaningful experiences.
