Who we are

Asociația Valori de Bine

Value for the future of children — through education, support and the simple joys of life.

We are an association founded in 2025, dedicated to children and teenagers from vulnerable backgrounds — many of them orphans, raised by grandparents or in family placement. We work, so far, with over 300 children through five programmes that build on each other: educational support, mentoring, career orientation ("Career Tomorrow"), creative workshops and digital education.

We do not believe in one-off interventions that look good in press releases. We believe in constant presence, in trustworthy adults who come back week after week, and in programmes built around the real needs of children — not around what is easy to report.

Our mission

For children from vulnerable backgrounds, we build the contexts of growth they would not otherwise have: an adult who listens, a tutoring session that actually helps with the written test, a meeting with a professional who shows them a path they had not considered. We work long-term, not in campaigns.

"Before a child can launch their first paper plane, they need someone to sit beside them and show them how to fold it."

The context we work in

1 in 4 children does not know whom to ask for help with an emotional problem.

Our vision

A Romania in which a child born into a vulnerable background has the same real options as one born into a family with resources — not because they were "rescued", but because they grew up with the adults who showed them what they could choose.

Our values

Dignity, not pity

The children we work with are not "cases". They are people with names, stories, potential. This shows in everything we do — from the quality materials we use to the way we present them publicly.

Presence, not visibility

We communicate publicly less than we actually do. We prefer one mentor who shows up for 12 months over 10 volunteers who come once with a camera in tow.

Transparency with partners

Six-monthly reports with concrete numbers, detailed costs, questions we answer directly. No opaque administration, no "general expenses" that swallow half the budget.

The patience of real change

A child does not "transform" in a summer camp. We build over years. That means saying "no" to attractive but superficial initiatives and "yes" to slow but effective things.

Who we work with — partners

In 2025-2026 we collaborate consistently with:

  • SOS Children's Villages Romania — main partner for access to children's communities. The "Career Tomorrow" programme runs explicitly in collaboration with SOS.
  • Editura Niculescu — partner for access to books and educational resources.
  • EPAM Romania — we built a creative workshop together with the company's team on International Women's Day 2026 — an example of how a global technology company can step into our area of impact.
  • Professionals invited into Career Tomorrow — among them Alexandru Abagiu (make-up artist, over 30 years of experience) and Chef Orlando Zaharia. The list grows, month by month, with mentors from different trades.

Our programmes have also drawn media attention: Antena1 documented a Career Tomorrow session with Chef Orlando Zaharia.

Stories that explain why we do this

"I want to become a pastry chef, but we don't know if there will be money for school… but when I come to the workshops, something lights up in me and I remember that maybe there is a chance."

Our team

We are a small team (2-10 people) made of programme coordinators and dedicated volunteers. We work closely with professionals from various fields who come occasionally as mentors, workshop leaders or tutors.

The named team list will be published after internal confirmation of each role and the consent of each member to public listing.

Our story

The association was founded in 2025, out of a simple observation: vulnerable children, in general, do not lack intelligence or curiosity. They lack the constancy of an adult who believes in them and guides them, and the contexts in which they can discover what is possible.

We started modestly, with a handful of children and a few volunteers. In the first year we reached over 300 children through our programmes. We do not grow the numbers at any cost — we grow only as much as we can deliver consistent quality for each child.
