The joys of childhood
We bring the natural joys of childhood closer, through simple gestures that turn into beautiful memories: a birthday, a book, a trip or a summer camp.
About the programme
The programme grew out of our direct work with children, when we understood that support is not only lessons, homework and educational activities.
For a child, support can also mean a birthday celebrated, a book received at the right moment, a complete school bag, a trip or, simply, the feeling that someone thought of them.
In many children’s lives, these experiences are a natural part of childhood. For children in vulnerable situations, however, they are often missing or happen far too rarely.
Through this programme, we respond to concrete needs and simple wishes, identified together with the children and those who know them, so that each of them can have more joy, care and normality.
What we do, concretely
- Birthdays and small celebrations — for some children, the first birthday celebrated with a cake, gifts and people around them.
- Books, school supplies, school bags and learning materials — offered when they are needed and can make a real difference.
- Recreational outings, trips and summer camps — natural experiences of childhood that many children in vulnerable situations rarely have access to.
- Support for one-off needs — when a child lacks essential things or needs a gesture of care and encouragement.
- The Wish Tree — the initiative we organise every December, through which children’s Christmas wishes come to life with the help of volunteers, donors and partners.
Impact so far
- 20+ children supported through responses to concrete needs and natural moments of joy
- 50+ children took part in creative workshops and recreational activities
- 50+ books offered to children in the communities where we are present
- The Wish Tree — an initiative organised every December, through which children’s Christmas wishes are fulfilled with the help of the community
- 80+ hours of volunteer involvement dedicated to preparing activities, coordination and direct support for the children
All of this was possible with the support of partners, publishers, volunteers and individual donors, who contributed through books, supplies, gifts and cakes, as well as through the time and care they gave the children.
